Papua New Guinea's police commissioner has called for a warrant to be immediately executed on the Treasury Secretary, Dairi Vele.
Yesterday, Gari Baki said although the court issued the warrant last Wednesday, the usual process was not followed by the police and he was not made aware until the weekend.
He says the oversight of Chief Inspector Timothy Gitua and Chief Superintendent Mathew Damaru undermined the integrity of the office of the Commissioner of Police.
The Post Courier reports Mr Vele is suspected of official corruption, misappropriation and fraud, related to the purchase of two turbines for PNG Power Limited.
