A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 has shaken Solomon Islands but there are no immediate reports of damage and a tsunami alert has not been issued.
The quake struck early this morning on San Cristobal island, 184 kilometres southeast of the capital Honiara, at a depth of 89 kilometres
