Laneway Festival isn’t going anywhere.

The much-loved event will stay in Silo Park for the fifth year and Laneway co-promoter Mark Kneebone said that the festival will be bigger with added options for food and drink, as well as more facilities and shaded areas.

“After some initial uncertainty about where we’d be for next year’s event, we are beyond happy that our old friends at Silo Park have pulled out the stops to make it possible for Laneway to return to the waterfront location for 2016.”

Last month it was suggested that the event, which takes place on February 1, could move to Auckland Domain for 2016, but Laneway co-promoter Manolo Echave said he was told by a senior council event organiser that it was a no-go.

“We have been kneecapped basically,” he said.

The festival was on the move as work was set to begin on a redevelopment of Silo Park.

But Kneebone said that over the past couple of months, they had been working with the Silo Park team and Council organisation, Panuku Development Auckland, to work on making Laneway 2016 “the best yet”.

The full lineup for Laneway Festival will be announced on Tuesday September 22. Modest Mouse, Hudson Mohawke and Purity Ring have all been rumoured as part of the announcement.
