The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat says the Pacific Countries that endorsed the Multilateral Fisheries Partnership Agreement draft to negotiate with the European Union are seeking the maximum benefit out of their fish resources.
A joint meeting of Pacific ACP Trade and Fisheries Ministers endorsed the draft agreement in Vanuatu as part of the region's Economic Partnership Agreement.
The Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu are at the meeting which ends on Friday.
A media officer for the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, Johnson Honimae, says the agreement benefits the European Union and also the Pacific countries involved.
"What the Pacific ACP members want is maximum benefit out of their fish resources and that's the whole aim of what is in this agreement."
