Raglan homicide: Victim named as Cedric John Maniapoto

A man widely known by friends and family as 'Brother Cedi' has been named as the victim of a homicide in Raglan.

Cedric John Maniapoto, 58, was found dead on Tuesday.

In a statement, police said his death had been an "incredibly distressing" event for his whānau and support was being provided.

A crime scene examination was continuing in order for police to work out what happened in the early morning hours of Tuesday that led to Maniapoto's death.

"A post mortem examination will also be completed to today to confirm the cause of Mr Maniapoto's death."

Police said they were appealing to people who may have seen Maniapoo or his car on Ohautira Road between 2am and 7.30am on Tuesday.

Maniapoto's body was found around 8.15am.
