Election 2008

Cabinet holds last pre-election meeting

16:03 pm on 4 November 2008

The Labour-led Government has held its final Cabinet meeting before the election.

The Cabinet dealt with routine matters, such as passing regulations.

Speaking to reporters following a walkabout in Lower Hutt, Labour leader Helen Clark said the mood at the meeting was good and she did not believe it would be the last time her cabinet met.

"The feedback on the ground is overwhelmingly positive. I walk along the street today, and am constantly greeted by complete strangers who say 'Good luck, we're with you, we've already voted'."

Miss Clark says there is every prospect of Labour leading the next government.
