The declaration by leaders of the Climate Vulnerable Forum came out of the Virtual Climate Summit hosted by the Marshall Islands on Thursday.

Forty-eight member states said there needed to be a more ambitious global response to climate change.

They said urgent action was needed to expand flows of public and private climate finance to countries in need.

In a separate statement, the countries said climate-related expenditure needed to be made more accountable for donors and recipients.
