Cultural and sporting events involving the public in French Polyensia have been called off because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The culture minister Heremoana Maamaatuaiahutapu said while supporting the two sectors, it was now crucial to protect the elderly, the young and families.
The House of Culture in Papeete will remain shut until 16 November, and the seminar on Polynesian languages in late November has been deferred.

The moves came as a curfew was being reintroduced on order from Paris, but which had been adjusted by the French High Commission to only apply to Tahiti and Moorea.
The mayor of Papeete Michel Buillard, who extended the zone where the wearing of masks in public is compulsory, decided to use a plot ceded by the French military to accommodate the homeless.
The pandemic has infected more than 5000 people, most of them in the past month.
All but 62 cases were detected after the borders were reopened in July and mandatory quarantine requirements were abolished to boost tourism.
