Two teenagers have been charged after the theft of $17,000 worth of tobacco from Invercargill dairies.
A 17-year-old appeared in Invercargill District Court over two charges of burglary in relation to tobacco stolen from Centre Street dairy on two separate occasions.
Police said the total tobacco taken was valued at $17,000.
The teenager also faces a charge of aggravated robbery in relation to a Grasmere dairy robbery, where tobacco valued at $1400 was taken.
Police have also spoken to a 16-year-old in relation to the tobacco theft and say he will be referred to Youth Aid.
Police said they are aware that other people were involved in both burglaries.
Police said that to date they had not recovered any of the tobacco.
