Several schools in French Polynesia have reopened after the Covid-19 pandemic forced their closure for several days.
While others remain shut, the education ministry has issued a reminder that attendance is compulsory for pupils and students whose classes are open.
Churches are still open although Covid-19 has spread in the community.
In August, 511 Covid-19 cases were recorded and according to the health authorities the average age of the infected is 34.
Employers have spoken out against union threats to stage a general strike on Thursday over the government's Covid-19 management.
The unions warned last week about a possible stoppage in order to re-introduce a two-week quarantine for anyone arriving from overseas at Tahiti airport.
