Testing still slow in PNG as more Covid-19 cases are confirmed

There have been 10 new cases of Covid-19 reported in Papua New Guinea in the past 48 hours bringing their national total to 550.

The death toll remains at seven.

Testing is still slow in the country of around 8 million people. Just over 26,500 people have been tested for Covid so far with 30 tests currently pending.

Local authorities say 532 people have recovered from COVID-19 in PNG and there are around 10 active cases being kept in managed isolation.

13 provinces in the country have now recorded cases of the coronavirus, the majority are in the capital Port Moresby followed by the Western Province which borders Indonesia.
