The Northern Marianas is facing a humanitarian and economic crisis as more than 1,300 of its foreign workers could be forced to leave the territory.
This comes after the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that its cap of 12,999 positions for foreigners to work in the territory had been reached.
Our correspondent said most of the 1,300 workers affected have children born there who are US citizens.
He said the workers were deemed critical to the success of local businesses and the expulsions had prompted fears of the potential impact on the territory's economy.
