Northland Police investigate after man dies from critical injuries

Police are appealing for the public's help as they investigate the death of a man in the Far North over the weekend.

A 28-year-old man with critical injuries was dropped off at Bay of Islands Hospital about 3.30am on Saturday.

He was then airlifted to Auckland Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Northland Police believe there may have been an altercation between the man and another party at an address in Te Tii, Kerikeri.

Police are speaking with a person who is helping with inquiries.

They are now asking the public for sightings of a silver Toyota Camry with the registration CLQ142, which was seen in the Puketona Road area the previous evening, or a silver Honda Accord with the registration FEW685.

Both vehicles are undergoing a forensic examination today.

Anyone who may have seen these vehicles in the wider Paihia and Kerikeri areas between 3pm on Friday and 8am on Saturday is being asked to contact police.
