Two young people have been arrested after an aggravated robbery in Levin.
The pair entered a dairy on Winchester Street just after seven this morning and approached the counter armed with tools, demanding money.
Police said after the shop attendant retreated into the back room, they took sweets from the shop before fleeing.
Area Commander Manawatu inspector Ross Grantham said the pair then allegedly attempted to steal a car, before breaking into a vehicle beside it and stealing a wallet.
They broke a window of a third car on Salisbury Street before being caught on Trafalgar Street by officers.
Police say referrals to Youth Services have been made.
