Mike Sabin resigns from Parliament

12:58 pm on 30 January 2015

The MP for Northland, Mike Sabin, has resigned from Parliament, effective immediately.

Mr Sabin said he has decided to resign due to personal issues that were best dealt with outside Parliament. He will not be making any further comment.

The Prime Minister John Key has acknowledged the resignation.

He has also acknowledged Mr Sabin's service as an MP since he was elected in 2011. Mr Key is now taking advice on the possible date for a by-election in the Northland electorate.
