One person has died following a two-car crash near Whakatāne on Friday night.
Police were notified of a crash on White Pine Bush Road at 11.40pm.
One person was seriously injured and airlifted to Whakatāne Hospital, but subsequently passed away.
Two other people suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Police say enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are under way.
