Share market falls on Tuesday

The benchmark NZX50 index fell 4 points, or 0.1% on Tuesday to end the day at 3252.

Turnover was $92 million.

Among the major share movements: Telecom was up 4 cents at $2.525, Fletcher Building down 7 cents at $5.93, and Contact Energy unchanged at $5.40.

Sky City Entertainment was down 3 cents at $3.45, Sky Network TV unchanged at $5.45, and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare ended up 1 cent at $2.42.

Comvita gained 5 cents to $2.95 after independent directors advised shareholders to reject Cerebos' takeover offer, saying it undervalues the company.

Cavalier lost 18 cents to $2.22, Restaurant Brands was down 4 cents to $2.07, and Steel and Tube Holdings was down 6 cents to $2.15.

Dorchester Pacific was unchanged at 93 cents after reporting a half-year loss of $993,000.

The Warehouse ended Tuesday down 2 cents at $3.25.

In currency markets, at 5.20 pm the NZ dollar was at 74.73 US, 75.98 Australian, 47.83 pence, 57.53 yen, and 0.5542 euro.

The TWI was at 66.49.
