Three government departments will be relocated in central Christchurch on the site of the city's earthquake damaged former police station.
The government and Ngai Tahu Property today jointly announced details of the new, 8500 square metre office building on the corner of Hereford Street and Cambridge Terrace.
It will be occupied by the Ministry of Education, Housing New Zealand and the Ministry of Health, and will house 350 public servants.
The building will be a part of a wider development on the city block by Ngai Tahu Property and is expected to be ready in February 2017.
