Police are investigating after a man's body was found in the Waikato River this morning.
The body was found by a member of the public shortly before 8am about 200m north of the Hamilton Rowing Club.
Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Keall said the body had been identified as a 31-year-old Hamilton man of Thai descent.
Mr Keall said he was wearing black shoes, black trousers and a black short sleeved shirt.
The police were treating the death as unexplained, and were investigating the circumstances that led up to the man being found in the river.
They were appealing for sightings of the man between 10.30pm Saturday and early this morning, and of any suspicious behaviour in the area.
Next of kin were being notified and a post mortem would be done on Monday.
