Pacific banking network shrinking at twice the global rate

Banks in New Zealand and Australian are being urged to maintain their Pacific services amid an exodus of international banking services from the region.

Over the past decade active cross-border correspondent banking relationships have fell by over 40 percent in the Pacific.

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand says this is twice the global average and research indicates the trend is not slowing down and could get worse.
