Vanuatu Prime Minister confident of more aid funding from Europe

19:15 pm on 14 June 2012

Vanuatu's Prime Minister says he is confident there will be more aid for his and other Pacific countries from the European Union.

The EU and African, Caribbean and Pacific group of countries conclude a week of meetings in Port Vila today.

Sato Kilman says one of Vanuatu's priorities has been the delivery of aid assistance to the Pacific.

He says people will always ask for more aid, but it must be properly structured.

"We're saying more aid, and I think we will be pledged more aid. But we appreciate the problems that Europe is facing, and I think this financial crisis is world wide. But our prayers are that Europe will get over the financial crisis, and we also hope that we will get more aid from Europe."
