Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says violence has been seen at the protest in Wellington but the behaviour and attacks on police in the past couple of days has been 'absolutely disgraceful".
"My message would be to anyone who is down there who believes they are part of a peaceful protest, that is not what we've seen today ... I would encourage them to leave. Clearly there are a group who are acting out in a violent way towards police officers who are only doing their job."
Earlier today, Police Assistant Commissioner Richard Chambers also described the protesters' actions as "disgraceful".
Three people were arrested this morning, one - the driver of a vehicle which sped toward police down Molesworth Street, the other two for obstruction, Chambers said.
Hundreds of police protected with riot shields stationed themselves around the protesters, in an attempt to reduce the perimeter of the protest.
Police said some used shields to protect themselves from thrown objects.
They said three officers required medical attention after being sprayed with an "unknown substance".
Police said there were also reports of sexual assault within the protest grounds and they were encouraging anyone impacted to come forward.
