The future of freedom camping in Dunedin is up for debate: the city council has asked for feedback on changing its bylaw.
At the moment people are allowed to camp in any vehicle in one of two specified places - Warrington Reserve and Ocean View Reserve.
But both are becoming overcrowded, leading some to suggest only vehicles with self-contained cooking and toilet facilities should qualify.
Another option would be opening up more places for freedom camping.
The mayor, Dave Cull, said the council would start taking feedback at the end of June, and hoped to have any changes to the bylaw passed by September.
