ANZ Bank has closed its two Whangārei branches for the second day running.
The doors are locked, the lights are out, and security guards are posted outside both premises.
It appears a few staff have been working in parts of the main branch in Rathbone Street.
Notices on the doors said both Whangārei branches were closed until further notice due to 'serious unforseen circumstances'.
ANZ referred RNZ to the police.
Police said they were notified of threats made by a man in Whangārei to an ANZ calltaker and the branches had been closed as a precaution.
They said they were trying to locate the source of the threats and security staff were outside each branch.
