Sport: PNG rugby league stars supporting Hope Cup

Papua New Guinea Kumuls and Hunters players will be travelling to Mendi next week for the inaugural Hope Cup.

The Cup, initiated by the National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop, is aimed at bringing peace to the Southern Highlands and will be played for between the two provinces using Digicel Cup sides Port Moresby Vipers and Mendi Muruks.

The event, is sanctioned under the PNG National Rugby League through the PNG Rugby Football League as a one-off match.

Parkop said rugby league was a powerful medium and with star PNG players Justin Olam, Stanton Albert, Enoch Maki, Stargroth Amean and Bland Abavu attending the event, people would be encouraged to come together in support.
