Former heavyweight boxing world champion Joseph Parker will headline a card in Melbourne later this month.

This will be Joseph Parker's debut fight on the other side of the ditch with the prestigious Commonwealth heavyweight title on the line against Australian heavyweight Faiga 'Django' Opelu on Wednesday 24 May.

Opelu (15-3-2) is a former Australian heavyweight champion who produced a big upset last year, with a stoppage of the previously undefeated Kiwi fighter Hemi Ahio.

A massive underdog, Opelu is 2-2 in his last four bouts.

The winner of Parker-Opelu will become the first fighter from the Pacific to win the Commonwealth heavyweight title.

Parker is looking to regain some momentum after a shock defeat to Britain's Joe Joyce in September.

He bounced back in January with a unanimous decision win over Jack Massey though his career has never really recovered from his WBO title loss to Anthony Joshua in 2018.

The card will also feature Kiwi Bronze Olympic medallist David Nyika taking on Benjamin Bommber.

Undefeated as a professional, Nyika most recently knocked out Titi Motusaga to take his record to 5-0.

Parker v Django will be available on Sky Arena and Sky Sport Now PPV.
