Bowlers Khan and Timoti still contenders after day five

The women's pairs lawn bowlers are carrying the New Zealand squad's medal hopes from competition so far at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

The erratic early form of the men's pairs, men's triples and women's triples meant losses on the fifth day dropped them out of contention.

The national head coach Dave Edwards says the players are all disappointed that their form wasn't what it should have been after all the training and preparation.

Jan Khan and Rawi Timoti are second, just behind Australia, in Group A.

The women's and men's singles heats, featuring world number one Val Smith and world number four Ali Forsyth, are underway.
