Rain in Beijing hits mountainbikers

13:16 pm on 22 August 2008

The bad weather in Beijing has forced organisers to postpone the cross country mountainbike races.

Rain on Thursday meant the BMX finals were pushed back a day and the wet has also had a big effect on the mountainbike course where Rosara Joseph and Kashi Leuchs will be riding.

Bike NZ high performance manager Mark Elliott says it's a matter of safety.

Elliott says the course is very technical with some potentially dangerous downhills, so the postponement is sensible.

So weather permitting both the women's and men's mountainbike races will be held on Saturday.
