Vanuatu's 40th Anniversary Celebrations in July will scaled down due to the impact of the global Covid-19 pandemic and last month's devastating Cyclone Harold.
The Chairman of the Anniversary Committee, Fred Samuel, describes the celebrations as a once in a lifetime event but concedes social distancing and hygiene will be vital to maintain the health of the country.
Mr Samuel said as well as the coronavirus threat and Cyclone Harold, Tanna's Yusur Volcano had showered the island with ash, destroying food gardens and polluting water sources.
