The Northern Marianas has recorded 18 incidents of cancer among children 17 years old or younger during the last five years.
The Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation's five-year study revealed the figures, saying the islands averaged 3.6 newly diagnosed cancer cases a year for children in that period.
In 2011, the incidence of cancer among children climbed to 22.5 per 100,000.
Among 14-and below age range, the cancer rate was at just over 20 per 100,000.
The CHCC noted that leukemia accounted for a third of cancers in the age group.
