The fire on Tangoio Settlement Road has destroyed about 350 hectares of pine forest since Tuesday.

In a statement, Civil Defence said the fire was still burning and around 30 personnel were on the ground.

"The fire is fully contained but not extinguished yet, so there will still be some smoke over the next few days."

A cordon at the junction of Tangoio Settlement Road and Waipatiki Road will be lifted at 6pm tonight and some firefighters will be pulled off the line tomorrow as the fire eases.
