Murder charge after Franklyn Village attack

A Nelson man will face a murder charge following an attack in a Nelson boarding house at the weekend.

Two men, aged 27 and 17, were charged with intent to injure after Bruce Andrew Mortimer suffered head injuries in an attack at Franklyn Village in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Mr Mortimer, who was 46, died later in the day in Wellington Hospital.

This afternoon police announced the 27-year-old would face an additional charge of murder.

He will appear in the Nelson District Court on Thursday.
