Messages on the encrypted social media platform, Telegram, indicate people are sending hundreds of eggs and fresh meat from farms to be stored at a garage near Parliament.

A makeshift kitchen has been set up on Molesworth Street to feed the protesters.

However, Telegram messages show some people are concerned about how long it can last and that some people might just be there for free food.

It has been suggested a system is made to control which people can get food from the kitchen.

Meanwhile, as a result of the protest some nearby Wellington bars and cafes have been forced to temporarily close their doors, while others have had customer numbers more than halve.
