Two-hour rescue successful at Pyne Gould building

00:26 am on 24 February 2011

The father of a woman pulled alive from the rubble of the Pyne Gould building says she communicated to rescuers though a tiny crevice.

Ann Bodkin was rescued after a delicate two-hour operation on Wednesday.

Others remain trapped in what was a four-storey building but police are still trying to confirm how many.

Bill Bodkin says his daughter was trapped under her desk when searchers found her.

Mr Bodkin says the searchers held her hand as they worked and passed her a small bottle of water through the crack.

Ms Bodkin suffered dehydration but is otherwise well.
