Firearms taken amid rise in rural Wairarapa burglaries

06:33 am on 19 September 2010

Wairarapa police are dealing with an increase in rural burglaries, including the theft of firearms.

Fuel, televisions, motorbikes, alcohol and cash have also been stolen in the burglaries, which have mostly taken place during daylight hours.

Senior Sergeant Warwick Burr says residents are being asked to stay alert for suspicious activity and should keep their doors and windows locked while they are at work.
