Vanuatu's Prime Minister Charlot Salwai is visiting New Zealand this week.
His New Zealand counterpart Jacinda Ardern said the two countries have a long history of close friendship and she is looking forward to discussing further opportunities to strengthen that relationship.
Ms Ardern said the visit provides a good opportunity to demonstrate New Zealand's work to improve the resilience of infrastructure, and progress conversations on regional security, labour mobility and the PACER Plus trade agreement.
The visit will be Charlot Salwai's second as Prime Minister.
He will be accompanied by his Internal Affairs Minister, Andrew Napuat.
