ACT leader David Seymour is promising to announce a major new environmental policy.
The party is holding its annual conference in Auckland today.
Mr Seymour told RNZ News he felt ACT had neglected environmental policies in the past, and it was time for that to change.
He said the environmental initiative he would be announcing would combine sound economics with good public policy.
Mr Seymour said it was time more recognition was given to the efforts of volunteer groups, who he said were doing more to protect biodiversity than they were given credit for.
