Fiji police are investigating the creation of fake Facebook profiles, scam emails and bogus loans involving the Reserve Bank of Fiji.
FBC News says according to the Bank, cyber criminals have created several fake facebook profiles of Barry Whiteside, the Bank Governor.
However, the Governor does not have a Facebook profile under his name.
The Bank said impersonations were used to provide fake RBF approvals for victims to remit funds to secure proceeds for fake lotteries, investments and loans.
Governor Whiteside said RBF and its staff do not communicate with anyone via Facebook or other social media on official business matters.
