China's trade surplus in April was nearly four times bigger than expected, with exports far exceeding imports.
The trade surplus was $US11.4 billion. Analysts had expected about $US3 billion.
In March, China reported an unexpected trade surplus of $US140 million.
Exports grew 29.9% in April from a year earlier, while import growth slowed to 21.8% year on year.
China reported a trade deficit of $US1.02 billion for the first three months of the year.
