A New Zealander working as a security guard in Iraq has been killed.

34 year old Darryl de Thierry died on Tuesday when the armoured vehicle he was in was hit by a roadside bomb.

A Fijian colleague was also killed by the blast.

They were working for the London-based security firm Armor Group.

Its chief executive Dave Seaton told Morning Report Mr de Thierry was involved in protecting convoys that transport reconstruction material.
