A person is in custody after two people were injured during a family harm incident at a rural Waimate home on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to a fire in the two-storey house shortly before 1pm on McNamaras Road.
Police said two people were injured, one seriously, and were taken to hospital.
Fire and Emergency said the top storey was well alight when crews arrived, but no one was inside and the fire has been contained.
Police said staff would remain at the scene and inquiries were ongoing.
