The Blues overcame a four point halftime deficit to crush the Melbourne Rebels 54-17 in Melbourne and cement their fifth placing in the Super Rugby Pacific standings.

Wing Mark Telea and halfback Finlay Christie both scored doubles to cap fine games as the Blues ran in nine tries to crush a Rebels side who were barely in the contest after the break and suffered a number of worrying-looking injuries on the way to a fifth defeat.

Beauden Barrett was at his creative best as the Blues, last year's losing grand finalists, piled on a stunning 41 points in the second spell, having trailed 17-13.

Skipper Dalton Papali'i capped the win with the final try in the 80th minute as the Blues improved their record to 4-3 ahead of a bye next week.
