Guam's governor Lou Leon Guerrero, who earlier this week contracted covid-19, has announced that the Lieutenant Governor Josh Tenorio has now also tested positive for the coronavirus.
Lou Leon Guerrero, who has been in self isolation at home since her positive result came out on Monday, tweeted last night that Mr Tenorio remains in good health despite exhibiting moderate symptoms of the virus.
He will continue his isolation until he is cleared by his health care provider.
In his own statement Tenorio urged the people of Guam to stay the course, saying the island's covid response remained steadfast and said new announcements would be made today about redoubling those efforts.
Guam officially has had 445 cases of Covid-19, including five deaths, but there have also been hundreds of cases related to military facilities and vessels which have not been included in that count.
