Review of surgery at Wairau Hospital

18:40 pm on 28 January 2013

Ongoing financial pressures have prompted a review of surgical procedures at Wairau Hospital in Blenheim.

Options put forward range from continuing to provide full surgery options to reducing the service to an elective basis only, which would mean patients would have to travel to Nelson for most surgical procedures.

Staff have until the end of February to comment.

Nelson-Marlborough DHB interim chief executive Mike Cummins says it will support patients who may be forced to travel.
