The High Court in Solomon Islands has refused bail for two MPs charged for their alleged involvement in the violent protests that devastated parts of Honiara last week.

Central Honiara MP, Nelson Ne'e and East Honiara MP Charles Dausabea were remanded in custody following the court rulings.

The prosecution allege Mr Ne'e had threatened to "chop the throats" of five Malaitan MPs if they fail to swap their votes to support the current Opposition group.

Mr Ne'e is facing charges of intimidation and managing an unlawful society.

Mr Dausabea is facing charges involving inciting violence, threatening violence and intimidation.

He allegedly shouted inflammatory words outside parliament on following the election of Snyder Rini as Prime Minister.

The duo's next court appearance will be on May 8.
