Ronaldo joined Raul as Real Madrid's most prolific goalscorer when he netted both goals in their 2-0 win over Malmo in Group A.

Already the top scorer in the competition's history, Ronaldo rifled home his 81st and 82nd Champions League goals and took his Real tally to 323 alongside Raul with goals in the 29th and 90th minutes.

With six points from their opening two games, Rafael Benitez's side lead Group A on goal difference from their next opponents Paris Saint-Germain, while Malmo, despite two losses, are third having conceded fewer goals than Shakhtar Donetsk.

PSG beat Donetsk 3-0.

Manchester United recovered from conceding a goal after four minutes to win their first Champions League match of the season when they beat VfL Wolfsburg 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Exactly six years to the day since the two clubs last met at Old Trafford, the Group B game followed the same pattern with Wolfsburg taking the lead and United winning.

Daniel Caligiuri opened the scoring after some poor United defending before Juan Mata equalised with a 34th-minute penalty after Caligiuri handled in his own penalty area.

Chris Smalling stole in to score what proved to be the winner after 53 minutes leaving all four teams in the group on three points after CSKA Moscow beat PSV Eindhoven 3-2 in Moscow in the other game.

Sergio Aguero scored a last minute penalty to give Manchester City a 2-1 comeback win at Borussia Moenchengladbach and their first three points in Group D.

Gladbach, having waited 37 years for their first home game in Europe's premier club competition, stunned their big-name opponents with a 54th minute goal by Lars Stindl.

City, who have goalkeeper Joe Hart to thank for keeping them in the game with half a dozen superb saves, drew level with Nicolas Otamendi's deflected effort in the 65th before launching a late rally in search of a winner and with Argentine striker Aguero scoring from the spot.

The result sees City move up to three points with Gladbach still to earn any in Group D.
