There are fears that traffic snarl ups coming into Wellington will repeat today.
Waka Kotahi has closed most of Haywards Hill for repairs, with the section of SH58 between Hutt Valley and Pāuatahanui closed off.
That route is a major connection between the Hutt Valley and Porirua.
On Saturday congestion for traffic coming south into Ngauranga on State Highway 1 began about 10.30am and on State Highway 2 about 11.30am.
The last of the congestion did not clear from the Petone Esplanade until after mid-evening.
The regional traffic updates group on Facebook described yesterday as a "clusterstorm", and expected it to all play out again today.
