A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in central Auckland.

Police were called to the crash at Richardson Road, Mount Roskill, near the intersection with Whitmore Road about 12.40pm.
The pedestrian died at the scene.
A section of Richardson Road was closed and diversions put in place.
