The Walking Access Commission wants to see the country's longest walking trail made safer.

Te Araroa, which stretches from Cape Reinga to Bluff, turned 10 this month.
Commission chief executive Ric Cullinane said about 15 percent of the 3000km trail involved walking on the road.
He said they were dealing with a range of councils, mana whenua, private landowners and local communities to shift the trail into nature.
Cullinane said it did take time and money to do.
He said they had seen a lot of people walking the entire trail in one go, which took months.
But he did not want people to think that was the only option, and instead look at doing different sections when they could.
Cullinane said plenty of people had inadvertently traversed parts of the trail, like Lambton Quay in Wellington.
He said they were looking at bridge clip-ons and other options where the track has to stay on the road.
