Insurance companies have begun receiving claims for damage following the series of fires throughout the South Island this week.
A spate of scrub fires swept across Canterbury and Otago on Wednesday as a 30°C heat wave baked the region.
State Insurance head of corporate affairs Craig Dowling said the companies of State, AMI, and NZI, had received six claims for damage from the Otago fires.
Mr Dowling said it was too early to estimate the cost of the damage from this week's fires.
